Ewing’s sarcoma is a primary malignant bone tumor affecting individuals in the second decade of life. Primary sarcomas of the spine are rare and the occurrence of primary Ewing’s sarcoma in the spine is very rare. There are 2 types of Ewing’s sarcoma of the spine, Ewing’s sarcoma of the sacral spine which is very aggressive with a poor prognosis and Ewing’s sarcoma of the non-sacral spine which is an extremely rare occurrence. The patient may have a neurological deficit when the tumor extends into the spinal canal, causing compression of the spinal cord. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is very sensitive in diagnosing the tumor and Evaluation of the extent of the tumor. Here, we report the case of a 12-year-old boy who presented with low back pain, weakness of both lower limbs and bilateral spastic paraplegia progressively evolving since 1 month. The CT and MRI scans showed the presence of a tissue lesion process centered on the vertebral body of L1, heterogeneously enhanced after injection of Gadolinium respecting the posterior arch, without bulging of the posterior wall with epiduritis, endocanal extension and spinal cord compression. The patient underwent decompression with surgical biopsy and posterior stabilization of the spine. Histopathology and immunohistochemistry studies confirmed the diagnosis of Ewing’s sarcoma and the patient was referred to an oncopediatric center for combined chemotherapy and radiotherapy, but died at home a few days later before the start of treatment.

Trichobezoar is a rare disorder of the young girl with a psychiatric profile. It is suspected when there is a notion of trichophagia, although its clinical manifestations are non-specific. Imaging through CT scan, plays a fundamental role in the diagnosis of extensive forms.

Glutaric aciduria type 1 is an autosomal recessive lysine and tryptophan disorder characterized by glutamic acid and other metabolic by-product accumulation. This disease can be diagnosed in the postnatal period, supported by magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and confirmed by biochemistry. This article aims to highlight the typical features of this disease in brain MRI which connects frontotemporal atrophy with bilateral and symmetrical signal abnormalities of the brainstem, periventricular white matter, and basal ganglia. As a result, we use two cases to show how this rare disease manifests itself in imaging.

Carotid artery injuries are rare with an incidence of 1%–2.6% in trauma patients. They are associated with high morbi-mortality rates, with mortality ranging from 19% to 43%. The diagnosis relies mainly on computed tomography angiography in the emergency setting; however, it is fundamental to be able to suspect carotid artery injuries on non-contrast computed tomography, as the latter is the routine imaging tool for trauma patients. We report the case of a young male, victim of a blunt high velocity motor-vehicle trauma. He was unconscious, with abundant epistaxis and hypovolemic shock. A fracture of the left carotid canal on non-contrast computed tomography was seen, raising concern for an arterial injury. A computed tomography angiography was performed subsequently revealing a transection of the internal carotid artery. This type of injury is highly lethal, and its management relies on urgent surgical intervention, and endovascular treatment, with the purpose of controlling the hemorrhage.

Von Recklinghausen disease is the most common phacomatosis. It can affect many systems, including the bone system. Through these 2 cases, we illustrate the bone manifestations of this disease.

A malformative syndrome of the lower spine pole, caudal regression syndrome is a rare condition (1-5 cases/100 000 births). It usually occurs in children of diabetic mothers and includes a wide range of disorders. This case illustrates a subtype of this syndrome (type IV, group I) in a non-diabetic mother.
