RESUMOA escassez da água do planeta vem provocando debates e pesquisas na busca de alternativas para o enfrentamento ou mitigação do problema. A utilização de água residuária tratada para irrigação vem se mostrando uma alternativa viável, por apresentar resultados significativos em relação ao consumo da água e no despertar da consciência coletiva para o trato responsável dos bens finitos do planeta. O presente trabalho teve como objetivo avaliar as características físico-químicas e microbiológicas da água DESO e efluentes tratados utilizados para irrigação. A água potável da DESO foi coletada em torneira localizada na Universidade Federal de Sergipe, Campus de São Cristóvão e as águas residuárias tratadas foram coletadas na Estação de Tratamento de Esgotos (ETE) Rosa Elze, localizada no Município de São Cristóvão/SE. Os resultados dessas análises foram comparados de acordo com os padrões aceitáveis com as três classificações de água doce utilizadas para irrigação conforme as Resoluções CONAMA nº 357, de 17 de março de 2005 e nº 430, de 13 de maio de 2011. Os resultados obtidos das análises da água DESO encontraram-se dentro dos padrões aceitáveis estabelecidos pela legislação CONAMA, enquanto os valores das análises do efluente estão fora do aceitável, impossibilitando seu reuso para irrigação.Palavras-chave: reuso de água, efluentes, irrigação.
