<p><strong>Resumo</strong>: Considerando o aumento da produção acadêmica referente à história indígena no Brasil, entre o final do século XX e início do XXI, esse texto tem por objetivo evidenciar as mudanças ocorridas na sua escrita, que passou a demonstrar os índios como sujeitos históricos, ao longo de sua história de contato. Nesse sentido destaca-se a produção realizada pelos próprios pesquisadores indígenas Terena no âmbito dos programas de pós-graduação nas universidades brasileiras.</p> <p>Palavras-chave: Pesquisadores indígenas, Produção acadêmica, Historia indígena.</p><p> </p><p><strong><em>RESEARCHERS OF INDIGENOUS PEOPLE AND THE INDIGENOUS RESEARCHERS</em></strong></p> <p><strong>Abstract</strong>: Considering the academic literature production increase within the Brazilian indigenous history theme, from the late twentieth and early twenty-first century, this paper aims to highlight the changes occurred in their writing construction. These works began to reflect the indigenous people as historical subjects along their history of contact. Este artigo foi desenvolvido a partir do relatório apresentado ao Programa de Iniciação Científica 2016/2017, apresentando como objeto os rituais e festividades tidos como tradicionais entre os Terena de Mato Grosso do Sul, considerando-se que constituem um campo fértil para a problematização das noções de tradição e cultura, largamente utilizadas nos discursos de defesa dos direitos indígenas.Trabalha-se a hipótese de que é por meio do processo de ressignificação cultural que os contemporâneos povos indígenas atualizam e buscam legitimar sua forma de atuação no interior da sociedade nacional. Em um conturbado cenário de relações interétnicas e de lutas pela terra, os Terena exibem performances ritualísticas e festivas evocadas como tradição e sinal de sua indianidade. Apartir desses pressupostos buscou-se discutir essa dimensão da história do grupo, dialogando-se com os novos sentidos atribuídos às atividades culturais consideradas tradicionais, por meio do estudo da literatura etnográfica. Apresenta como orientação teórica e metodológica a abordagem da nova História Indígena, situando-se os indígenas como protagonistas de sua própria história. Conclui-se que os Terena ressignificam sua dança e performances xamanísticas em suas lutas de defesa dos seus direitos, sobretudo daqueles que se referem aos seus territórios, ainda em disputa. Nas manifestações públicas exibem seus ornamentos de guerra e as rezas de seus xamãs, em um movimento de atualização de suas pautas culturais.

O presente trabalho apresenta como tema central uma leitura acerca dos ritos e cerimônias religiosas tradicionais das populações Chané-Guaná a partir da literatura etnográfica, buscando-se entender as funções atribuídas ao Koixomuneti. Adotando a perspectiva da nova história indígena proposta por John Monteiro (1999), o objetivo perpassa a análise dos textos etnográficos, os quais trazem a figura dos xamãs Terena. Dentre os estudos etnográficos estudados destacam-se os de Branislava Susnik, Altenfelder Silva, Alfred Métraux, Kalervo Oberg, Claude Levi-Strauss e Roberto Cardoso de Oliveira, no que se refere ao que esses escreveram e observaram acerca dos rituais xamânico e das cerimônias mágico-religiosas dos Koixomuneti da etnia Terena.
