temperature range up to 490 °C, but it is probable that the life period of the furnace might be shortened to some extent.A corollary to the destruction of the organic matrix at such lower temperatures is the possibility of determining comparatively volatile elements such as lead in organic compounds at lower levels with higher accuracy. Some studies were also made to complete destruction of the organic matrix by addition, in the graphite tube, of some selected oxidizing agents such as HCIO4, HNO3, H2O2 or some suitable combination of these such as HCIO4-HNO3 in the proportions of 1:2 v/v. But two disadvantages were experienced: (i) the graphite furnace was attacked and (ii) it was difficult to avoid contamination of copper from the reagents employed at such low levels.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
