This paper presents a comparison of Space Vector Modulation (SVM) and Geometric Approach Modulation (GAM) when applied to parallel multi-leg Voltage Source Converters (VSC). Multi-leg VSCs are strong candidates for low voltage high power applications, such as wind power systems where the inverter has to handle high currents. The parameters for comparison are: (i) the Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) of the output current; (iv) Algorithm complexity. Finally, experimental results are presented to support the analysis carried out and to demonstrate the performance.
This paper develops a stability analysis of a local Islanding Detection Algorithm (IDA) based on positive feedback technique that has no Non Detection Zone (NDZ). A complete dynamic model for the system is derived and the stability analysis with Nyquist stability criterion is carried out. It is demonstrated that the parameters of the IDA can be easily tuned at the key operating conditions to guarantee the under or over voltage relay tripping whenever islanding occurs. Finally, experimental results are presented to support the theoretical analysis developed.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
