Inquilines in Zeta argiZZacea(Linnaeus, 1758) cells (Eumenidae; Hymenoptera)The solitary wasp Zeta argiUacea (Linnaeus, 1758) is wi~~ ly dis tributed in Brazil and in diverses localit ies . Females con struct nes ts of mud of on,e to twenty cells. Various inquilines used the empty cells of Z. argiUacea, the most numerous being the wasps TrypoxyZon sp. (Sphec idae) and Pachodynerus nasidens (Latreille) (Eumenidae).
Populatio n Dynamics of Solitary Wasp Zeta argiZZaaea (Linnaeus , 1 758) (Hymenoptera : Eumenidae)The solitary wasp Zeta argiZZaaea (Linnaeus, 1758) is wide ly distributed in Brazil and in diverse localities. Females cons truct nests of mud of one t o twenty cells. Examinati on of their contents permits th e cons truction of life tables of past gener~ t ions. The dissection of 2023 cells col lected in 19 locali ties indicated that 1704 eggs were laid and 1500 adults emerged; a high proportion compared with other known Aculeata . Hence, Z. argiZZaaea is considered to be a K species .There were more unused cells anda grea ter mor t ality in smaller Z. argiUaaea nests.About 11 species of organisms were responsible for the 204 (12%) deaths. Competition with Amobia (Calliphoridae) for food inside the cell r esulted in 56 of t he deaths and was greater in smaller nests.
