A simplified simulation of an arc response is carried out by using energy balance and a rate equation for electrons with ionization and recombination coefficients. A n argon arc gap is supposed to be submitted to a re-ignition voltage, which generates a fast Increase of the electronic temperature. A comparison Or calculated results with arc measurements shows that such an analysis may be useful in order to determine characteristics cf re-ignition processes. scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
