Por se tratar de um resíduo sólido, não é permitida sua disposição em um corpo receptor, devido seu alto grau poluidor. Deste modo, propõe-se um método de tratamento e destinação final do lodo gerado por uma estação de tratamento de água de uma indústria de beneficiamento têxtil através da secagem térmica em um secador do tipo rotativo. Obteve-se uma redução em massa de até 83 % em relação à massa de lodo inicial, o que representa menos custos para as indústrias ao remeterem este tipo de resíduo aos aterros industriais.(um espaço) INTRODUÇÃOO tratamento dos subprodutos sólidos gerados nas diversas unidades que compõem as estações de tratamento de água ainda não é realidade na maioria das cidades brasileiras. O principal motivo para isso são os altos custos de implantação de um sistema que faça o deságue e a secagem do lodo.O resíduo sólido proveniente dos tratamentos das águas residuárias é comumente chamado de lodo (Telles; Costa, 2010). Este é constituído de um material heterogêneo, rico em matéria orgânica, que é constituído por basicamente 97,0 a 99,5 % de água e 0,5 a 3,0 % de sólidos, sendo que nestes sólidos estão inclusos os produtos químicos utilizados no tratamento, sólidos suspensos (silte, argila, areia), partículas coloidais e matéria orgânica (Sampaio, s.d. apud Rubituci, 2015).Em estações de tratamento de água de ciclo completo, os resíduos volumétricos são as águas de lavagem dos filtros, e os mássicos, os que compõem o lodo dos decantadores (Di Bernardo;Dantas, 2005). A composição do lodo proveniente da descarga do decantador, geralmente é composta pelo acúmulo de sólidos e outras substâncias formadas por processos de coagulação, floculação e decantação da água bruta, e o lodo oriundo da lavagem dos filtros é constituído pelos sólidos que ficam retidos na camada filtrante (Chaves et al., 2013 apud Rubituci, 2015.
