OBJETIVO: Avaliar a percepção da qualidade de vida de pacientes hemiparéticos pós acidente vascular cerebral (AVC) submetidos a um protocolo de equilíbrio em grupo em ambiente aquático.MÉTODOS: Cinco pacientes hemiparéticos pós-AVC foram submetidos a protocolo de equilíbrio em grupo em ambiente aquático, em 24 sessões, realizadas duas vezes por semana, com duração de uma hora cada sessão. A amostra foi avaliada antes e imediatamente após o protocolo utilizando a Escala de Equilíbrio de Berg (EEB), o teste Timed Up and Go (TUG) e a Escala de Qualidade de Vida Específica para Acidente Vascular Encefálico (EQVE-AVE). As variáveis pré e pós-tratamento foram analisadas por meio do teste t de Student para amostras pareadas, com significância de p<0,05.RESULTADOS: Houve melhora da mobilidade e segurança avaliada por meio do TUG (p<0,01) e melhora da percepção da qualidade de vida avaliada por meio da EQVE-AVE (p<0,05) em todos os indivíduos no período pós-tratamento.CONCLUSÕES: Os indivíduos apresentaram melhora da percepção da qualidade de vida, do equilíbrio e marcha após protocolo de equilíbrio realizado em grupo em ambiente aquático.
