Tingkat keselamatan berlalu lintas sangat dipengaruhi oleh beberapa faktor seperti kondisi jalan dan kendaraan, antisipasi kecelakaan dapat dilakukan dengan mengetahui angka kecelakaan guna meningkatkan keselamatan lalu lintas. Kota Denpasar merupakan Ibu Kota Provinsi dan sebagai pusat kota dari pulau Bali memiliki tingkat kepadatan bertransportasi yang tinggi sehingga risiko terjadinya kecelakaan semakin tinggi juga. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan susuai dengan permasalahan yang terjadi yaitu adanya peningkatan kecelakaan yang terjadi setiap tahun dalam wilayah Kota Denpasar. Semakin meningkat jumlah penduduk di Kota Denpasar dapat memberi potensi peningkatan kejadian kecelakaan. Tujuan Penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui tingkat keselamatan lalu lintas di Kota Denpasar yang dipresentasikan dalam angka kecelakaan berbasis jumlah penduduk, Panjang jalan dan indeks severitas. Metode perhitungan mengunakan metode yang dikembangkan oleh pignataro (1973) dengan mengambil data jumlah kecelakaan, data korban meninggal, data panjang jalan dan data jumlah penduduk yang tercatat di Kota Denpasar selama 5 tahun, setelah melakukan analisis selanjutnya melakukan wawancara langsung kepada masyarkat tentang pendapat tinggi atau rendahnya tingkat keselatan lalu lintas yang terjadi di Kota Denpasar. Hasil perhitungan menunjukan bahwa angka kecelakaan berbasis jumlah penduduk menunjukan peningkatan 45,60 pada tahun 2016 menjadi 48,29 pada tahun 2020, Ditinjau dari Panjang jalan terjadi peningkatan dari 0,69 pada tahun 2016 menjadi 0,92 pada tahun 2018, dan indeks severitas terjadi penurunan yaitu dari 0,26 pada tahun 2016 menjadi 0,18 pada tahun 2020. Hal ini menunjukan bahwa tingkat keselamatan lalu lintas Kota Denpasar terjadi kenaikan. Serta hasil wawancara disimpulkan bahwa peranan penting orang tua serta pemerintah dalam keselamatan lalu lintas dalam mengedukasi masyarakat untuk lebih peduli tentang aturan – aturan berlalu lintas untuk mengurangi kejadian kecelakaan di Kota Denpasar.
