The analytical method for determining the magnitude of the contact pressure in a cylindrical interference joint with shallow depth grooves is described in the publication. This method takes into account the geometric features and the relative position of the external members.
The calculated dependences are based on the Lame’s formulas are given in the publication. They can be used to assess the bearing capacity of the joint at any macrogeometry of the joint, independently of the number, shape, size of grooves and their location.
The method is different by simplicity and visibility. It provides sufficient accuracy of results for engineering calculations.
The article describes an analytical method for determining the average value of contact pressure in pressure coupling taking into account the geometric features of the parts to be connected by fitting. The calculated dependencies given in the publication are obtained by the author under the condition of uniform radial displacement of the mating surface of the male part calculated using the Lamй formulas. The method is simple, clear, provides sufficient accuracy for engineering calculations. It can be used both in the design of smooth cylindrical joints with tension, and joints modified by shallow grooves.
The publication describes a universal calculation method of the average contact pressure in the interference joint with different lengths of fitting parts. The formulas given in the article were obtained under the condition of uniform radial displacement of the mating surface of that of the joined parts, the deformation of which causes the concentration of contact pressure at the mating boundaries after assembly.
The method provides sufficient accuracy for engineering calculations. It is distinguished by physic clarity, visibility and the simplicity of usage. It can be used for design and verification of calculations of smooth cylindrical joints with a long shaft and a long external member.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
