Der Übergangseffekt der sternerzeugenden Komponente der kosmischen Strahlung wurde hinter Blei in 3000 m Höhe untersucht. Ein Maximum der Sternhäufigkeit hinter 1–2 cm Pb wurde nicht beobachtet. Dieses Ergebnis befindet sich in Übereinstimmung mit den theoretischen Erwartungen.

Sic geben an, daR die Intensitat I mit zunehmender Absorberdicke x nicht. wie zu erwarten war, nach einem Exponentialgesetz 1 = I,, e-zin abfdlt (A = Absorptionslunge der Strahlung), sondern 1 oder 2 Maxima durchliiuft.Die Lagc dcs crsten Maximums hinter Bleiabsorbem schwankt in den verschiedenen Arbeiten zwischen 0,5 und 2 cm. Die Zunahme der Intensitkt gegenuber dem Wert bei 0 cm P b liegt zwischen 0,5 und 2 em. Die Zunahme der Intensitat gegenuber dem Wert bei 0 em P b liegt zwischen 5 und 35%.
