Purpose: This study aims to examine the effect of job satisfaction on turnover intention of food and beverage service employees and to investigate possible areas of improvement to establish job satisfaction on overcoming turnover intention. Research methods: The job satisfaction is measured with a simplified JDI Model, and the turnover intention is measured with Mobley et al.’s Turnover Intention Heuristic Model. The research used quantitative and qualitative methods with a questionnaire and semi-structured interview as the instrument. The analysis includes a correlation test, the classic assumption test, and a simple linear regression test. Results and discussions: The result shows that job satisfaction has a significant negative effect on employee turnover intention. The ability of job satisfaction variables to explain the variance of turnover intention variable was moderate. Demographic factors such as age and academic education are among the most significant factors to influence turnover intention. Three areas of improvement to establish job satisfaction on overcoming turnover intention were addressed.
This research aimed to analyze the factors that caused a performance decline on reservation employees back in 2021 and formulate appropriate strategies to improve reservation employee performance at Hotel XYZ. This study used a qualitative approach and research data obtained through interviews, observations, and documentation studies. The results showed that reservation employees at Hotel XYZ experienced a performance decline because of the following: 1). decreased work motivation, 2). awards that were not fully obtained as a form of appreciation from the organization and leader, and 3). the leadership role of the Director of Revenue and Reservation, who had not been effective because it was not by the nature and personality of the employees. This study aims to identify the application of the teachings of Tri Kaya Parisudha local wisdom in guiding tours in Bali. For this reason, the study was conducted using qualitative approach by collecting data through in-depth interviews to five senior tour guides, scholars in Balinese culture, Hindu Religion and philosophy, and Hindu religious figures in Bali. The data obtained through the interview were analyzed descriptively. The results showed that Tri Kaya Parisudha local wisdom should become the reference for tourist guide in handling their clients. It could be used as philosophy, ethic, as well as a base for service to the clients or guests. However, there are still a number of tour guides who do not apply the Tri Kaya Parisudha teaching in handling their clients. More studies on this topic would enrich the topic and research on how to implement it in real life situation would be useful for improving the quality of tour guide in Bali.
