Slang is a phenomenon of using language variations that arise as a result of language development and as well as a social dynamic in society in the realm of language. Slang in Indonesian is referred to as bahasa gaul and is mainly used by young people when communicating with other groups. Currently, the appearance of slang in the conversations of young people is very high, especially when viewed through interactions on social media such as Facebook, Instagram and Youtube. The emergence of YouTubers and celebgrams also has an impact on the wider spread and use of slang words today because slang words are one of the language styles that is often used by them. Therefore, this study attempts to analyse more deeply the form, function and meaning of existing slang, especially those used in social media. This research is qualitative in nature with documentation methods in data collection. The data was obtained through observations about the use of slang on social media (Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, Whats App), then the slang found is classified into the type and formation of words, followed by an analysis of the functions and meanings of slang in social media today. Based upon Allan & Burridge (2006) the findings show that the forms of slang found on social media are very diverse such as Fresh and Creative, Flippant, Imitative, Acronyms and Clipping. This indicates that social media users, especially the younger generation, are very creative and active in forming new slang words. Keywords: slang, social media, acronym, flippant, clipping.
Masalah dalam pembangunan ekonomi adalah peningkatan pertumbuhan, pengurangan kesenjangan pendapatan rumah tangga, dan pengentasan kemiskinan. Akan tetapi menjadi sebuah dilema pada negara-negara yang sedang berkembang dimana peningkatan pertumbuhan ekonomi akan meningkatkan ketimpangan pendapatan rumah tangga. Fenomena di Bali, dari tahun 1996 sampai 2015 pertumbuhan ekonomi Bali cendrung mengalami peningkatan. Inflasi di Bali cendrung stabil, penerimaan dana alokasi umum (DAU) di Bali selalu mengalami peningkatan, dan Trade open Bali 7% sampai 11% dari tahun 1996 sampai 2015. Disisi lain semakin meningkatnya indikator makro di Bali juga diikuti dengan naiknya ketimpangan pendapatan rumah tangga. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pengaruh DAU, inflasi, pertumbuhan ekonomi, dan trade open secara parsial terhadap ketimpangan pendapatan di Bali, dan menganalisis pengaruh dari masing-masing variabel bebas yaitu DAU (X1), inflasi (X2), pertumbuhan ekonomi (X3) serta trade open (X4), terhadap ketimpangan pendapatan rumah tangga di Bali. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian hanya trade open yang tidak singnifikan terhadap Variabel Y.
Bali merupakan barometer pariwisata Indonesia, berbagai objek dan daya tarik wisata ditawarkan dari obyek wisata alam, wisata budaya dan minat khusus. Kekhasan budaya dan religinya mampu untuk memikat wisatawan datang dan kembali lagi ke Bali. Pariwisata budaya kini ditengarai sebagai salah satu segmen industri pariwisata yang perkembangannya paling cepat. Hal ini dilandasi oleh adanya kecenderungan atau trend baru di kalangan wisatawan untuk mencari sesuatu yang unik dan otentik dari suatu kebudayaan. Pariwisata budaya diyakini memiliki manfaat positif secara ekonomi dan sosial budaya. Jenis pariwisata ini dapat memberikan keuntungan ekonomi kepada masyarakat lokal. Pemberdayaan dan keterlibatan masyarakat dalam pengembangan pariwisata akan membuat masyarakat akan ikut berpartisipasi dalam menjaga budaya dan alam mereka sehingga pada akhirnya pembangunan pariwisata berkelanjutan akan tercapai. Semakin banyak masyarakat lokal mendapat manfaat dari tourism, maka semakin tinggi kepedulian mereka dalam rangka berpartisipasi menjaga dan memelihara konservasi alam, pelestarian budaya lokal serta secara aktif mengawal masa depan bisnis pelayanan pariwisata.
This paper is entitled Language Choices Used by Mixed Marriage Children. This study focuses on the strategies of communication applied by the parents in raising their children, the language frequently spoken by the children and the factors affecting the children in choosing a certain language. There are two children, Jasmine and George, being observed in this study. In this study the data were collected by direct interview with the parents and children, questionnaires, and observation. The conversations made by the children, Jasmine and George, with their parents, their aunty, the nanny and their private teacher were recorded. The collected data were analyzed by using qualitative method and descriptive technique applying the theory proposed by Romaine (1995) and Holmes (2001). As a result of this study, strategy 1: ‘one person-one language’ is successfully applied by the parents in this family in raising their bilingual children. They communicate with their own language to the children from birth. So, the children, Jasmine and George, fluently speak two languages, namely Indonesian and English. However, English is the language spoken more frequently by the children and the children in this study know with whom to talk certain languages according to the participants, settings and topics.
The title of this study is Derivational Noun in The Economist Magazine “The Trump Presidency So Far”. This study was conducted in order to explain the base form and the meaning of derived noun, and also to explain the tree diagram structure of derived noun in the magazine. The data in this study were taken from the articles in The Economist Magazine “The Trump Presidency So Far”.The data were collected by using documentation method and analyzed using qualitative method. The main theories used in analyzing the data are theory of derivational morpheme proposed by Katamba (1993:47), theory of fabricating word proposed by Katamba (1994:56) and the theory of nominalizing of derivational proposed by Randolf Quirk (1973:432). The analysis shows that there are two kinds of derivational process of noun, namely class maintaining and class changing derivation.The derived nouns can be formed by attaching prefix and suffix to base word noun, verb and adjective. The affixes of derived noun also have their own meanings and the tree diagram is used in order to show the constituent structure of the derived noun.
The paper entitled “Similes in Novel Looking for Alaska by John Green” focuses on the kinds of simile and the meaning of simile found in the novel. The data was collected by reading the novel intensively, giving underline and taking note the similes found in the novel. The collected data was analyzed using qualitative method based on theory of figurative language, particularly simile. The main theory used in the analysis of the kinds of simile is proposed by Zhang Xiu Guo in a book entitled English Rhetoric (2005) and the analysis of type of meanings uses theory proposed by Leech (1981) in his book entitled Semantics. From the analysis of the data, there were two types of similes found, namely simile in terms of function and structure. Functionally there were three kinds of simile found, they are descriptive, illuminative, and illustrative similes, meanwhile structurally two kinds of similes were identified, they are closed and open similes. The meanings of similes found are connotative and conceptual meanings.
The study entitled Language Style in the Advertisements Broadcast in Cassanova Bali Radio are aimed to identify the types of language styles used and to analyze the linguistic features that are applied in Cassanova Bali radio advertisements. The data of this study was taken from six advertisement scripts on Cassanova Bali radio that broadcast from August 1st until August 30th 2017. These data were collected by using documentation method and analyzed by using qualitative method based on the theory proposed by Holmes (1992) and Grey (2008). After analyzing the data, vernacular language is the most common language style used by Cassanova Bali radio and found in five advertisements (17 sentences), meanwhile the standard language is rarely used by Cassanova Bali radio and only found in one advertisement (3 sentences). It was also found that Cassanova Bali radio used five linguistic features to attract more consumers and the most common feature is familiar language (24 words), followed by use of imperative (15 words), hyperbole (6 words), repetition (3 words) and simple vocabulary (3 words).
Studi tentang lembaga keuangan mikro sebagai lembaga keuangan yang berfungsi sebagai pendamping rumah tangga miskin untuk menjadi lebih sejahtera dan keluar dari lingkaran kemiskinan dapat dilakukan melalui intitusi keuangan yang berhasil mengurangi jumlah rumah tangga miskin (Devaraja, 2011). Laporan Hong et al. (2007) untuk praktek pengembangan Lembaga keuangan mikro di Vietnam membuktikan dapat menurunkannya jumlah rumah tangga miskin di pedesaan. Di Indonesia, keberadaan lembaga keuangan mikro telah memberikan kontribusi yang sangat nyata bagi akses keuangan rumah tangga miskin, tetapi masih terkendala oleh terbatasnya kontribusi Lembaga keuangan mikro Indonesia hanya sebesar 1.63 persen ( Siregar, 2016). Strategi pengembangan lembaga keuangan mikro digambarkan oleh Porter and Kramer, (2011) sebagai strategi target base of pyramid dan target shared value yang menunjukkan perlunya lembaga keuangan mikro membangun kekuatan usaha untuk mencapai laba secara berkesimbungan serta perluasan akses keuangan kepada rumah tangga miskin..
