The real time MWD system-named TRAFOR-X and developed by IFP is able to scan synchronously and to analyse 24 reai time downhole and surface sensors while drilling. It has been applied to a large range of research activities in the drilling and the geophysics domains. With the help of this tool, a new method has been developed to estimate real time downhole measurements like bit RPM or WOB using the sole standard surface measurements. These estimations result in the prediction of some main abnormal vibrations such as stick-slip, bit-bouncing or whirling.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
