Le sugarcane mosaic potyvirus (SCMV) et le sugarcane bacilliform badnavirus (SCBV) sont responsables des deux principales maladies virales identifikes sur la canne i sucre au Maroc i ce jour. L'Ctude de I'CpidCmiologie de ces deux virus a montrC que le SCMV peut contaminer une gamme h6tes relativement large d'adventices et de plantes cultivkes alors que le SCBV n'infecte qu'une gamme assez restreinte. Les plantes-h6tes communes dCterminCes sont le panicum et le sorgho. Le milieu rnarocain est particulikrement propice au SCMV et assure parfaitement son maintien dans les conditions naturelles. I1 offre une large gamme d'h6tes parmi les espkces les plus pridominantes et une abondance du vecteur potentiel Rhopalosiphum maidis. Le maintien dans la nature du SCBV serait dCi essentiellement i la sensibilitt et la pCrennit6 des cannes nobles et sa disskmination serait assurCe principalement par les boutures.
