Palabras clave: Prematuro tardío Recién nacido casi a término Morbilidad Mortalidad Resumen Abstract Late preterm infant: the forgotten patientLate preterm infants are born at a gestational age between 34 and 36 weeks and 6 days. These children have higher morbidity than term infants due to their relative physiologic and metabolic immaturity, leading to a longer average birth hospital stay with a higher cost of care. Moreover, the rate of readmission and mortality are also higher than in term infants. The purpose of this review is to define "late-preterm", describe medical complications and risks that are commonly found in this group of children, present the characteristics of late-preterm infants that predispose them to higher morbidity and mortality and suggest guidelines for assessment and management of these patients after birth.
Anti-vaccination ideologies are strong and hard to change. Paediatricians not denying medical care to parents who endanger the lives of their own children are also hard to find. The meeting point is possible, and society needs it. Active listening, empathy, and good quality information were the keys to our results.
Biliary hamarthomatosis in an infant with alergic colitis. Biliary hamartomatosis (BH) occurs in 0.9% of children. Its origin is dysembriogenesis. Hamartomas of this disease show grey-white color, and can be located in subcapsular region or scattered at the parenchyma. Its size is usually less than 3 mm. Clinically, BH follows an asymptomatic course. The diagnosis of HBM initially requires an imaging test (ultrasound, CT or MRI). Histologically, each hamartoma has several groups of dilated intrahepatic bile ducts in a stroma that may be hyalinazed and/or calcified. BH do not require treatment, because its malignant potential is slow. Introduction: dietary habits acquired at school age are the cast to be played in adulthood. The afternoon snack should provide 15-20% of daily calories and it's a good opportunity to manage fruit, milk and cereals. Objective: to know the afternoon snack habits in schoolchildren between 6 and 12 years old. Methods: assessment of afternoon snack habits in children aged 6-12 years old in a school in Madrid. A survey on afternoon snack habits in the last 3 days was conducted to children. The results were analyzed in SPSS
