The purpose of this pilot study was to determine if the argon laser could sterilize the root canals of extracted teeth contaminated with a known bacteria. Fifteen extracted teeth were inoculated with a specific strain of Escherichia coli. The canals were subjected to an argon laser and then cultured. The conclusion was that the argon laser, using the 100-/tm fiber, was more effective than the 200-jum fiber for obtaining a sterilized root canal under the test conditions.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
