Anode influence on the electroplating system was investigated when natural convection heat transfer in a packed bed is simulated by mass transfer based on the analogy. The cathode to anode area ratio (A c /A a ) was varied from 1 to 50. For three different anode positions of top and bottom of test section and corner of acryl tank, the distance of anode to cathode bed was varied: 0.01, 0.03, 0.07 m in all heating spheres experiments. The sphere diameter was 0.006 m, which corresponds to Ra d of 1.83×10 7 . The duct diameter was 0.06 m and bed height was 0.025 m. The Sc corresponding to the Pr was 2014. The verification test result for a single heating sphere in unheated packed bed agreed well with the extrapolated correlation of Achenbach (1995). The anode influence experiments for all heating spheres showed that the limitation of the area ratio is about 20. The desirable positions of anode are the bottom of test section and corner of the acryl tank, regardless of the distance between the anode and cathode packed bed.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
