We proposes a power-aware fixed-priority real-time scheduling algorithm for multimedia service, called static voltage scaling algorithm with multi-granularity resource reservation (STATIC-MULTIRSV). The multi-granularity resource reservation was introduced to deliver higher system utilization and better temporal isolation than the traditional approaches in [2]. Based on this, our STATIC-MULTIRSV is designed to reduce the power consumptions while guaranteeing that all I-frames of each video stream meet their deadlines. We implemented the proposed algorithm on top of ChronOS Real-time Linux [6]. We experimentally compared STATIC-MULTIRSV with other existing methods which showed that STATIC-MULTIRSV reduce power consumption by maximum 15% compared to its experimental counterparts.
WebCL was proposed for high complex computing in Javascript. Since WebCL-based applications are distributed and executed on an unspecified number of general clients, it is important to profile their performances on different clients. Several profilers have been introduced to support various programming languages but WebCL profiler has not been developed yet. In this paper, we present a WebCL profiler to evaluate WebCL-based applications and monitor the status of GPU on which they run. This profiler helps developers know the execution time of applications, memory read/write time, GPU statues such as its power consumption, temperature, and clock speed.
We propose AirPincher, a handheld pointing device for recognizing delicate mid-air hand gestures to control a remote display.AirPincher is designed to overcome disadvantages of the two kinds of existing hand gesture-aware techniques such as glove-based and vision-based. The glove-based techniques cause cumbersomeness of wearing gloves every time and the vision-based techniques incur performance dependence on distance between a user and a remote display. AirPincher allows a user to hold the device in one hand and to generate several delicate finger gestures. The gestures are captured by several sensors proximately embedded into AirPincher. These features help AirPincher avoid the aforementioned disadvantages of the existing techniques. We experimentally find an efficient size of the virtual input space and evaluate two types of pointing interfaces with AirPincher for a remote display. Our experiments suggest appropriate configurations to use the proposed device.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
