In order to collect data in the study, "Attitude Scale for Game and Physical Activities Course" and "Motivation Scale for Participation in Physical Activity" were used. In the analysis of the data, descriptive statistics such as frequency, percentage, and Mann Whitney U, Kruskall Wallis and Spearman Correlation analysis were used. In the findings of the study, it was found that while there was a positive significant relationship between attitude scale total score and physical activity participation motivation scale and the dimensions of individual and environmental causes of play and physical activities lesson, there was a significant negative relationship between attitude total score and indifference sub-dimension of motivation scale. As a result; it was identified that the prospective teachers show partially positive attitudes towards play and physical activities. It was observed that the attitudes of the prospective teachers towards exercise increased as they increased their participation in exercise. It can be said that the prospective teachers do not have any informatio...
The purpose of this research was to investigate the relationship between teachers’ fear of missing out (FoMO) levels and their cyberloafing behaviour and to reveal whether teachers’ FoMO and their cyberloafing behaviour differ according to their gender. The sample of the research consisted of 702 secondary school teachers working in state schools within the borders of Istanbul in 2019-2020 education year. According to the research, it was identified that the level of teachers’ FoMO levels and cyberloafing behaviours were moderate. It was detected that teachers’ FoMO levels differed significantly according to gender. With this result, male teachers’ FoMO levels were higher than female teachers’ FoMO levels. Similarly, it was observed that there was a significant difference between teachers’ cyberloafing behaviour and gender. According to this result, it was found that male teachers’ mean score of cyberloafing behaviour was higher than female teachers’ mean score of cyberloafing behaviour in all sub-scales. In addition, a positive significant relationship between teachers’ FoMO and their cyberloafing behaviour was observed.
In the present study, perceptions of Turkish school administrators and teachers towards Syrian refugee children were examined through metaphors. 71 school administrators and 242 teachers from 27 different provinces of Turkey participated in the study. As a result of the study, the metaphors produced by school administrators were grouped into four categories: "child with cultural adaptation and belonging problems", "fragile and needy child", "child who is no different from other children" and "problematic child". The metaphors produced by teachers were grouped into six categories: "child with cultural adaptation and belonging problems", "child who is no different from other children", "fragile and needy child", "problematic child", "child who can reveal her/his potential with interest" and "compatible child". Participants' perceptions of refugee children were not related to gender but there was a significant relationship between professional seniority and the number of refugee children at school. Although school administrators and teachers have positive perceptions about refugee children, their negative perceptions are largely due to the lack of professional experience and the high number of students at school. Providing vocational support to teachers and administrators, planning the number of students in schools, and providing resources to schools will improve positive perceptions about refugee children.
The current study aims to determine whether there is a relationship between transformational leadership and teachers’ motivation and whether this relationship if any, differs significantly based on various demographic variables. Within the framework of this aim, two scales were applied to 418 teachers working at primary, middle, and high schools in Istanbul. The data collection tools used in the study are the “Multidimensional Work Motivational Scale” developed by Gagné et al. (2010), and the “Transformational Leadership Scale” developed by Brestrich (2000). During the analysis of the data collected through scales, mean, frequency, and descriptive values such as standard deviation were used as well as independent groups t-test, multivariate variance analysis (MANOVA), and canonical correlation analysis. The results showed that as teachers perceive their principals as transformational leaders, their motivation including their inner motivation decreases. Besides, teachers’ perceptions of the transformational leadership skills of the principals change according to time of working in their current school, education levels and gender. It was also explored that the motivation status of female teachers was higher than male teachers.
