The aim of this study is to determine the reasons of motivation of sports high school students and to determine whether these reasons differ according to gender or doing individual sports and team sports. The study included totally 110 sports students who aged between 14 and 18, were doing three individuals sports (table tennis, weight lifting, judo) and three team sports (handball, volleyball, basketball) were subjected to evaluation. The students are 69 male and 41 female individuals. "Sport Motivation Scale" developed by Pelletier et al. (1995) was used as the data collection tool. The Turkish validity and reliability of the scale consisting of 28 items was performed by Kazak (2004). SPSS (Ver.22) package program were used. The data are presented as frequency, percentage (%), mean and standard deviation. In addition, the normal distribution of data with Kolmogorov Smirnov test was used. Independent Samples t test was used to determine the differences between the variables (individual sport-team sport) with normal distribution. The significance level was accepted as 0.05 in the analyses. In conclusion, it was determined that the reasons of motivation of students who were doing individual sports and team sports depended more on intrinsic motivational factors, and that the order of importance of these factors varied according to the individual sports and team sports variable. It was determined that the reasons of motivation of males and females mainly depended on intrinsic factors and the order of importance of these factors varied according to the gender variable. It can be said that male and female students wanted to get pleasure from the sports they did and to be successful in their sports, thus, they were motivated accordingly.
The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between attitudes towards physical activity and self-esteem of high school students. Three different scales were used on 626 adolescents in total who lived in Sivas, found by random sampling method. The first scale is “the Personal Information Scale” consisting of 6 items to determine the demographical characteristics of the participants; the second scale is “the Cognitive Behavioral Physical Activity Questionnaire (CBPA)”, which was developed by Schembre et al. (2015) and was adapted to Turkish by Eskiler et al. (2016) to determine the participants’ attitudes towards physical activity; and the last scale is “the Self-Esteem Scale” by Rosenberg (1965) and adapted to Turkish by Çuhadaroğlu (1985) to determine the levels of self-esteem of the participants. The study data was analyzed by SPSS 25 package software. The obtained data were represented as values of frequency (f), percentage (%), average (x-), and standard deviation (±). Pearson Correlation analysis was applied in order to determine the effect of physical activity attitudes on self-esteem. The age average of the participants was determined to be 16,28 (±0,97). The gender distribution was 312 females and 314 males, and the number of those who were participating in licensed sports was 336, and that of those who were not was 290. It was determined that there was a positive correlation between the participants’ attitude towards physical activity and their self-esteem. In conclusion, a positive correlation was found between the attitude towards physical activity and self-esteem. In the study, it was suggested that the tendencies towards physical activity should be protected.
The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between sources of social support and motivation and the moderating effect of gender on this relationship for physical activity participation in adolescents. In this study, the relational screening model, one of the quantitative research method, was used. The research was carried out in accordance with the cross-sectional survey design. The data obtained were evaluated by SPSS 21.0. The research data were obtained from a total of 670 adolescents who were selected by convenience sampling method among secondary and high school students in Ankara, Bursa and Istanbul. As a data collection tool, the Physical Activity Participation Motivation Scale (PAPMS) developed by Tekkurşun Demir and Cicioğlu (2018) and consisted of 16 items and 3 sub-dimensions, was used. In order to determine the social support perceptions in physical activities of the students in the research, Social Support Scale for Physical Activity in Adolescents (SSSPA) which was developed by Farias Junior et al. ( 2014) and adapted to Turkish language by Küçükibiş and Eskiler (2019) and consisted of 10 items and 2 sub-dimensions, was used. Our findings demonstrated that there was a positive relationship between physical activity participation and participantsʹ motivation in physical activity and their perceptions of parent and peer social support. Additionally, there was no statistically significant effect of gender interaction with perception of parental social support on physical activity participation motivation (t=1.36, p>.05). However, it was identified that peer social support perception and gender interaction had statistically significant effect on physical activity motivation (t=1.99, p<.05). The results indicate that as the perception of parent and peer social support increases, female studentsʹ motivation to participate in physical activities increases more than male students. In other words, female students were more positively affected by parent and peer social support than male students. Consequently, adolescentsʹ social support for physical activities had positive effects on their participation and motivation.

Frequency, percentage, mean and standard deviation values were used for data analysis. Normality tests of the data were performed and Mann Whitney U test and Kruskal Wallis H test were used to compare the variables that did not show normal distribution. According to the findings, it was observed that sport team evangelism levels differed statistically according to the participants' gender, the number of teams they went to, the frequencies of going to matches, the way they followed the matches, and the way to go away. It is seen that the level of evangelism of the sports team of the participants is moderate. Clubs are advised to develop marketing and marketing strategies for products and services, taking into account the profile and evangelist tendencies of the fans.
