a b s t r a c tChord length distributions were measured during the crystallization of gas hydrates in a flow loop. The conditions on the flow loop were similar with the conditions in the marine pipelines. The flow loop was filled with water in oil emulsion and pressurized with methane (7 MPa) at low temperature (277 K). During crystallization water droplets crystallize and agglomerate. The CLD measures were interpreted in a preceding work [Le Ba et al., 2010] [1] by constructing random aggregates with known geometrical proprieties from a monodispersed population of droplets and calculating their CLD. Comparing calculated CLD with CLD from the experiment, the geometrical parameters: number of primary particles and fractal dimension of experimental aggregates are identified. However some differences remained between the experiment and the calculated CLD. In the present work the droplets population was considered polydispersed improving the comparison between the model and the experiment.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
