The aim of this study is to do a psycho-visual comparison of different kinds of sub-pixel arrangements for OLED displays using low-resolution photomasks. The experimental results show that if the resolution of photomasks of OLEDs matches the active matrix, quad RGGB outperforms all others. If the maximum resolution of OLED photomasks can be 2/3 of the active matrix, size-varied quad RGGB is a good choice. If the resolution of photomasks is only 1/2 to the active matrix, double-pixel quad RGGB is preferable. Spatial sharpening also can significantly enhance the visual resolution and overall image quality.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
