The objective of the work was to carry out a systematic literature review to identify the impacts caused by SPED on Brazilian small and medium-sized companies and on the government. This is a relevant work, as it identifies the impacts caused by the adoption of SPED on small and medium-sized companies, indicating the positive and negative aspects that occurred with the adoption of SPED in the last decade. . A systematic literature review was carried out, adopting a research methodology used in academia. Search strings were used from the definition of research questions and exclusion and inclusion criteria of articles were adopted. Positive and negative aspects and impact on government were identified. . Twelve articles were selected for analysis and identified the factors that influence the adoption of SPED, the impacts related to implementation and operationalization costs of SPED and the benefits brought by SPED to the governmental area. This is a study that reflects on the adoption of SPED in small and medium-sized companies. It was identified that for SPED to generate benefits for the company, it is necessary to plan, execute and control. As a result, the factors that influence the adoption of SPED were listed, factors that affect the implementation of SPED, benefits achieved with the adoption of SPED for the governmental sphere, benefits of the adoption of SPED according to companies and harms from the adoption of SPED according to companies.
