A novel ultrawideband planar bow‐tie antenna with curved directive strips for gain enhancement is presented. The strips direct radiation to the plane perpendicular to the antenna, increasing the broadside gain over the antenna's impedance bandwidth with no increase to the radius of the sphere containing the antenna. To facilitate the use of the proposed antenna in various application scenarios, three different feeding mechanisms are presented. Accordingly, three antennas, each with their respective feeding structures are designed and tested via simulation and measurement with the results for each showing enhanced broadside gain over the antenna bandwidth.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
