For any professional, it is of crucial importance to know not only how coping styles and strategies are present in an individual, but to know about its role to the treatment of alcohol abuse. Moreover, new approaches have emerged in this area in terms of relapse prevention and the counseling by phone can be an alternative. The aim of this study is to examine the factor structure of the Coping Behaviors Inventory (CBI) and to test its invariance across groups face-to-face and phone counseling in Brazil. For this purpose, two studies were carried out: study I, the factor structure was revisited in terms of exploratory factor analysis. Study II, face-to-face and phone counseling were examined through confirmatory factor analysis and multigroup analysis. The results confirmed the 4-factor solution with a revised model for the removal of 16 items. Thus presented, a reduced version with better indexes than the previous versions developed over the last 30 years that was ones reformulated from 60 items. The Internal consistency for study I presented α = 0.90 and homogeneity was between 0.17 and 0.5). In addition the KMO = 0.9 = 0.932, X(df=630)2 = 6091.94, p < 0.0 < 0.001. In study II, cronbach's alpha = 0.91 and homogeneity 0.23–0.61 (telemedicine treatment) and α = 0.90 0.17 to 0.63 (face-to-face treatment). In the CFA, the examination of the current version has better fit than the that the traditional model. Moreover, the new version showed convergent validity with the IDHEA questionnaire. In the multigroup analysis no significant changes between groups to a metric level. Finally, the Brazilian version of inventory showed no differences between the phone counseling and face-to-face participants in a metric level after a multigroup analysis.
Background: This study aims to identify the association between parenting styles and behavioral changes among adolescents regarding the consumption of alcohol, tobacco, cannabis, cocaine/crack. Methods: A group of ninety-nine adolescents (39 girls and 60 boys), aged 14 to 19 years (17.05 ± 1.51), who called in to a call center that provides counseling to substance users, was followed-up for 30 days. Data collection occurred between March 2009 and October 2015. The adolescents answered questions regarding parental responsiveness and demanding nature on a scale to assess parental styles and provided sociodemographic data, substance abuse consumption characteristics, and the Contemplation Ladder scale score. Results: The parental styles most reported by the adolescents were authoritative (30%) and indulgent (28%). Children who perceived their mothers as having an indulgent style and who had absent fathers presented more difficulties in making behavioral changes to avoid alcohol and cocaine/crack consumption. Conclusion: The study found that parent-child relationships were associated with a lack of change in the adolescent regarding substance use behavior, particularly the consumption of alcohol and cocaine/crack.
Estratégias de coping relacionam-se diretamente com o sucesso de abstinência do uso de álcool. No Brasil não há instrumentos que identifiquem estratégias específicas para usuários de álcool. O objetivo deste estudo foi realizar a tradução, adaptação transcultural e validação de conteúdo do Coping Behaviours Inventory (CBI). Os procedimentos seguiram de tradução e retradução, adaptação transcultural, avaliação de conteúdo e estudo piloto. A versão final em português foi aplicada por telefone a 40 usuários de álcool que buscaram auxílio em um serviço de teleatendimento, o VIVAVOZ. A versão retraduzida aproximou-se da original. Quanto à validação de conteúdo, a maioria dos itens é satisfatória e aceitável. Além disso, a concordância entre os juízes, referente à dimensão teórica, apresentou índice kappa médio igual a 0,666, sendo o nível de concordância considerado substancial. Os resultados são satisfatórios e aceitáveis, o que demonstra que a escala está adequada para investigar as estratégias de coping para usuários de álcool.
The use of telemedicine in ICUs has grown and is becoming increasingly recognized. However, its impact on PICUs remains unclear. This systematic review and meta-analysis aimed to evaluate whether telemedicine in the PICU has the potential to improve clinical and non-clinical outcomes. PubMed, Scopus, LILACS, and CINAHL electronic databases were searched to identify studies that assessed the impact of telemedicine on clinical outcomes, with no publication date restrictions. The reference lists of the selected articles were hand-searched for additional studies that had not been identified by the initial electronic search. Studies were included if they had a cohort design, used telemedicine, were conducted in PICUs or specialized PICUs, and were published in Portuguese, English, or Spanish. Two groups of reviewers independently screened titles and abstracts for inclusion. The same group of reviewers independently assessed the full-text articles for eligibility and extracted the following information: telecommunication method, intervention characteristics, patient characteristics, sample size, and main results. Studies were meta-analyzed using a random-effects model to estimate the pooled prevalence of PICU mortality and length of PICU stay. Risk of bias was assessed using the Newcastle-Ottawa Scale. Of 2703 studies initially identified, 2226 had their titles and abstracts screened. Of these, 53 were selected for full-text reading, of which 10 were included and analyzed. The main results of interest were length of PICU stay, number of deaths or mortality rate, and satisfaction of health professionals and family members. The results of meta-analysis show that the mortality rate reduced by 34% with an increase of the length of PICU stay in the PICUs with the use of telemedicine. Family members and health professionals were satisfied with the use of telemedicine. Telemedicine has the potential to improve PICU outcomes, such as mortality rate and family and staff satisfaction. However, it extended length of PICU stay in the studies included in this systematic review.
Purpose of Review To present the implementation of a telemedicine project (TeleICU) in pediatric intensive care units (ICU) throughout different Brazilian regions. Recent Findings Although telemedicine in pediatric ICUs has shown evidence of benefit in numerous studies with potential to 18 mitigate existing disparities, in Brazil, its use is still under development. Brazil has several opportunities for implementing this resource since, according to the National Registry of Healthcare 20 Establishments (NRHE), there is a discrepancy in the density of pediatric intensive care physicians per patient and the availability 21 of pediatric ICU beds per number of inhabitants. Summary Health technologies are being widely used to fill gaps in the healthcare system. Telemedicine has been an important tool to meet demands in intensive care units, especially the demand for specialized assistance. TeleICU is a Brazilian model of telemedicine that performs multidisciplinary telerounds in remote pediatric ICUs and develops continuing education activities for the healthcare teams. The project aims to systematize and to qualify care, as well as to reduce risks for patients admitted to pediatric ICUs engaged in the project. Preliminary results have demonstrated a positive impact regarding this approach, providing medical care to 6640 inpatients-day in two Brazilian pediatric ICUs, for 616 patients during 946 daily telerounds.
Introdução: A telemedicina facilita o acesso ao cuidado para os pacientes. Essa tecnologia tem apresentado bons resultados clínicos e de satisfação dos usuários. A satisfação é um dos principais indicadores de qualidade dos serviços, e sua avaliação permite mudanças na qualidade da prestação de cuidados, identifica problemas e viabiliza a melhor gestão e os melhores comportamentos dos profissionais de saúde. Do aumento do uso da telemedicina no mundo emergiu a necessidade de entendimento da qualidade desse serviço. Objetivo: Traduzir, adaptar culturalmente e validar um questionário para avaliação da satisfação de pacientes atendidos por telemedicina. Métodos: A versão adaptada após a avaliação por um comitê de juízes foi utilizada em pré-teste com 30 pacientes atendidos no projeto TeleOftalmo. Os resultados do pré-teste foram avaliados a fim de se obter uma versão adequada do instrumento. Além disso, o instrumento foi aplicado em uma amostra de 141 pacientes atendidos via telemedicina. Análises de consistência interna e de validação de constructo foram realizadas. Resultados: O coeficiente de validade de conteúdo (CVC) global foi 0,942, demonstrando clareza, pertinência e relevância das questões. O instrumento apresentou consistência interna com alfa de Cronbach estandardizado de 0,6, considerado aceitável. A análise fatorial exploratória apresentou critério de Kaiser-Meyer-Olkin de adequação de amostragem de 0,56 e o teste de esfericidade de Bartlett apresentou valor de 0,001. Conclusões: A versão brasileira do Questionário de Avaliação da Satisfação de Pacientes Atendidos via Telemedicina (QAS-Tele) é um instrumento fácil e viável para a avaliação da satisfação dos pacientes atendidos por telemedicina.
