La pandemia por COVID-19 y las consecuentes medidas de confinamiento social impuestas por el Poder Ejecutivo Nacional en Argentina, afectaron profundamente todas las esferas de la sociedad. En el ámbito de la educación superior universitaria, en particular, se alteraron completamente los procesos de enseñanza y aprendizajes. En este marco, las actividades académicas debieron replanificarse y adaptarse a un formato exclusivamente virtual que trastocó la habitual dinámica laboral de los trabajadores y trabajadoras docentes. Si bien, durante este complejo interregno, este colectivo profesional atravesó por condiciones sociales y condicionamientos laborales que resultaron comunes a otros sectores dentro del ámbito de la cultura en el país, estuvo signado a su vez por especificidades de tipo socio-ocupacionales, sectoriales y regionales que le refieren un carácter distintivo. Por ello, en este artículo centramos el lente de análisis en el caso de los trabajadores/as docentes de la carrera de sociología de la Universidad Nacional de San Juan, examinando el devenir de sus trayectos laborales en dos momentos claramente diferenciados: pre-pandemia y pandemia. Se trata de una investigación enmarcada en el proyecto PISAC-COVID-19-00014 “Heterogeneidad estructural y desigualdades persistentes en Argentina 2020-2021” acreditado por la Agencia de I+D+i y el CODESOC. A partir de instrumentar una entrevista semiestructurada al colectivo docente estudiado, se analizan los perfiles sociodemográficos y académicos de los respondientes así como algunas características fundamentales de su trabajo productivo y reproductivo. Los hallazgos alcanzados muestran que la contingencia generada a partir de la pandemia de COVID-19 transformó significativamente las condiciones laborales del ejercicio docente en la carrera de sociología, cristalizado en un aumento de las horas de trabajo, superposición de los escenarios del hogar con los laborales, dificultades en el acceso/uso de herramientas tecnológicas y reconfiguración del trabajo reproductivo.
