ABSTRACTThe manipulation of objects in an experimental activity aims to favor certain types of reasoning that can provide (from a process of mediation) the understanding, representation and use of scientific concepts. An experiment, as a pedagogical activity, provides moments of discussions and interventions that are indispensable to the teaching and learning process. From this perspective we have proposed and developed (within the framework of PIBID) a didactic sequence to: Identify the students' previous knowledge about electrical circuits; enable the manipulation of the materials used in an experimental activity; to trigger discussions about the physical and chemical concepts involved in the proposed activities and to evaluate the extent to which students understand the contents wich were explored in the activities Simultaneously with the handling of the materials that were made available to the students, we sought to involve them in the search for answers to the questions proposed in the elaboration of circuits: simple, in series, in parallel and mixed. This experience has fostered discussions among students, undergraduates and experienced teachers. The role of the experimentation in the development of the educational autonomy and in the students' motivation for the learning was proved to be relevant.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
