La question de recherche traitée dans le présent article est la suivante : un leader peut-il utiliser la coopétition comme stratégie de contrôle de son marché ? L'étude porte sur la façon dont Microsoft a géré les modes relationnels dans la situation de coopétition au sein du comité technique de l'AFNOR chargé de présenter la position française sur son projet de nouvelle norme OOXML. Une perspective dynamique est envisagée. Les résultats montrent que le leader peut utiliser la coopétition comme stratégie de contrôle de son marché. Ils mettent en évidence le jeu du leader le long du processus de normalisation qui se caractérise par un management subtil selon des séquences clés par le recours à différents modes relationnels (coopération, concurrence et coopétition) qui lui permettent d'arriver à ses fins.
