This study is concerned with the effect of relocating bluecollar families in higher-status neighborhoods. Interview data from recently mobile blue-collar families in a midwestern area show that when blue-collar families move into higher-status neighborhoods, family relations are strained and traditional blue-collar friendship patterns intensified: points which have implications €or agencies involved in relocating segments of the urban poor.
