This paper reviews the most practical used harmonic mitigation solutions for applications using Adjustable Speed Drives. A study case in Water/Wastewater industry is presented, where the harmonic distortion has to be decreased to reduce losses and improve network stability. Among several existing solutions, which are described and compared in the paper, the choice of active filtering turns to be most flexible, efficient, readily integrated into the existing automation and fulfils all harmonic standard requirement. It is also proven that the Active Filter improves the existing grid capacity and due to its superior harmonic compensation it offers higher energy saving.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
