L’analyse du pouvoir, dans le contexte des organisations africaines, révèle très souvent des situations qui échappent aux modèles d’analyse observés dans la littérature ; notamment chez différents auteurs dans le champ sociologique de l’organisation (Weber, 1971 ; Dahl, 1957 ; Crozier et Friedberg, 1977). Très souvent en Afrique, principalement subsaharienne, l’exercice du pouvoir fait référence à la capacité de l’individu à mobiliser des attributs et des ressources dans un univers invisible et accessible aux seules personnes initiées suivant des pratiques sociales traditionnelles. Cette vision initiatique du pouvoir remet en question les modèles théoriques généralement cités et qui ne permettent pas de comprendre les vrais enjeux du pouvoir en contexte africain subsaharien.
Cette recherche met en exergue la réalité des pratiques de sorcellerie dans le management de la petite entreprise au Cameroun. La méthodologie mobilise une enquête qualitative de terrain et trois études de cas concrets d’influence des pratiques de sorcellerie sur les comportements concurrentiels des managers des petites entreprises. Les résultats révèlent trois types d’agir sorcellaire des managers en situation de concurrence et montrent que le savoir sorcellaire est un avantage concurrentiel. Il exerce une influence ambivalente sur la performance de la petite entreprise.
