<p><span>The study aims at investigating students' reading fluency through mobile assisted extensive reading in effect and responses. Forty-five students (14 males and 31 females) were involved in the study. The participants were asked to read the materials of graded reading in electronic books by using their mobile phone. To measure their reading fluency, reading rate was counted in word per minute. The results show that mobile assisted extensive reading outperformed the students' reading fluency. </span><span>Some participants commented that mobile based extensive reading was likely to build their reading fluency.</span><span> It indicated that mobile might have the potential way not only for reading comprehension but also for reading extensively. <span> </span></span></p>
YouTube is a website that facilitates users to share the videos they have, or just enjoy various videos uploaded by content creators. There are various kinds of videos that can be uploaded through this site, such as video blogs, music video clips, education videos, and others. Learning English independently through YouTube is a research topic which aims to find out the experiences of students while studying English and the challenges and opportunities they get. English Education in one private university in Cirebon became the object that the researcher chose and there were four female students who participants in this study. This research uses qualitative methods and data analysis uses thematic analysis. Data from this research is found by doing questionnaire and interview seasons. All participants showed positive responds. The results of this research indicate that YouTube is an application that can be used independently. Learning English by watching videos can help them improve their English skills, especially in listening and speaking skills. The benefits they get while using YouTube as a medium for learning English are interesting English learning content, good pronunciation, unfamiliar word, familiar with accent, a lot of information and knowledge through the videos that they see for learning.
This study focuses on the teaching speaking skills through inquiry technique. This study was aimed at finding the effectiveness of the use of inquiry technique in improving students' speaking skills. It was done under several ways and by giving pretest and post-test. The population of the study is the first grade students of English education of Unswagati. The writer took two classes (class GH & CD) for the sample of the study. The study was carried out through experimental research by using the taccount formula.The findings of the study are as follows. The average pre-test and post-test experiment class is 21.83 but in the control class get 13. It is different from the average of the class. The result of t 3.17, while the critical value of t is higher than t account account table (3.17t > 2.002t ). This could be seen that t observed is higher than t table and account table there are differences between Mx and My by the formula application. It shown that the final result of this research stated has a fositive influence.
The role of teaching materials plays major contribution to the language development. The published materials bridge the content and the practice in the classroom. From the analysis it was found 25 images which represented the gender role in which man dominated in all chapters. The representative of image in the textbook employed the role of social background of what student perceived in the course book. The students perceived that the three images could represent their want. However, most images did not show students� daily activities. In addition, the findings showed that students� responses to the images in the textbooks had controversy related to the role of man and woman in the reality.
