A púrpura trombocitopênica idiopática (PTI) é uma doença autoimune caracterizada pelo baixo número de plaquetas, as células que desempenham um papel no processo de coagulação do sangue, e atingi principalmente pessoas na faixa dos 18 a 24 anos e manifestar-se através de pequenos sangramentos e machas roxas na pele. Esse estudo tem como como objetivo ajudar a ampliar o conhecimento dos leitores focando no diagnóstico da PTI com base no compilado de materiais bibliográficos adquiridos através de buscas nas plataformas Scientific Electronic Lirary Online - SCIELO, Google Acadêmico, Ministério da saúde (MS), biblioteca Virtual em Saúde, que após passar por critérios de exclusão e inclusão, resultaram em 25 citações, entre artigos e protocolos. Os resultados obtidos mostram que em casos de suspeita de PTI o diagnóstico é feito por processo de exclusão, após a realização da anamsese, hemograma completo e do esfregaço e for confirmado a presença de trombocitopenia, serão realizados exames para excluir outras doenças que também causam trombocitopenia, constatando a ausência de outras condições clínicas será confirmado o diagnóstico de PTI.
