Objective: describe the process of transcultural adaptation and validation of the Stanford Presenteeism Scale for Brazilian Portuguese. Methods: Methodological study of the cultural adaptation and validation of the tool which involved 153 nursing staff and included six aspects of equivalence, obtained through the following stages: translation, first version of consent, retranslation, specialist committee, pre-test, study of test-retest credibleness and dimensional validity. Results: The stability of the items varied from moderate to almost perfect and the sequence constancy was almost perfect. Two factors were identified through the exploratory fact analysis: the first one included the physical aspects -completing work; and the second one the psychological aspects -avoided distraction. Conclusions: the results suggest adequacy of the tool in the Brazilian Portuguese version, indicating its use in the context of the study group and in similar groups, contributing to the study of evidences which consolidate strategies that favor the health conditions of the jobholders.
This cross-sectional research aimed to analyze the psychological demand and work control self-reported by the Education (n = 319, 39.7%), low work demand (n = 274, 34.1%), high work demand (n = 116, 14.4%) and active work (n = 95, 11.8%). There were contributions from the investigation on the health of these workers insofar as they provided a diagnosis of the category. There is a recommendation for such data to support interventions to empower them and retailor jobs.
Objetivo: identificar as demandas psicológicas, o controle e o apoio social no trabalho dos Agentes Comunitários de Saúde. Método: estudo descritivo, com abordagem quantitativa, realizado com 212 trabalhadores da Atenção Primária à Saúde de um município do interior de Minas Gerais. Os dados foram coletados entre julho e outubro de 2015 com Agentes Comunitários de Saúde das Unidades de Atenção Primária de Saúde. A análise foi descritiva com frequências absolutas e relativas. Como variáveis independentes características sociodemográficas e do trabalho, e como variáveis dependentes a escala reduzida Modelo Demanda-Controle e o apoio social no trabalho. Resultados: evidencia-se uma população feminina em fase produtiva da vida, o trabalho passivo e alta exigência tiveram maiores proporções, demonstrando alto risco de desenvolvimento do estresse psicossocial no trabalho. Conclusão: ressalta-se a necessidade de intervenções nas condições de vida e laborais, principalmente no que se refere a aspectos psicossociais e organizacionais.
Objective: to describe the sociodemographic profile of Community Health Agents. Method: epidemiological study with 400 workers. Data collection occurred at the workplace. The analysis was performed with the SPSS version 22. Results: the majority of the study population was composed of women (91.2%), with a mean age of 46 years; self-declared whites (46.3%), married/common-law married (57.5%), and with complete secondary education (65.3%). A proportion of 43.6% were considered very active, 89.8% consumed alcohol in low levels and 94.3% had very low levels of tobacco dependence. The professionals had begun their work activities before the age of 20 (83.5%), 87.3% had only one job and 87.8% did not work the night shift. Regarding the time working in Primary Health Care, 41% had worked for 11 to 15 years, and 99.3% received hazard pay for unhealthy work conditions. Conclusion: the inclusion of this new professional category in Primary Health Care (PHC) in Brazil implies that these workers deserve increasing attention due to their work in communities, showing a positive impact on the results obtained. Resultados: a maioria da população deste estudo é composta por mulheres (91,2%), média de idade de 46 anos, 46,3% se autodeclararam brancos, 57,5% eram casados/união estável e 65,3% com Ensino Médio completo; 43,6% foram considerados muito ativos, 89,8% tinham um baixo consumo de álcool e 94,3% apresentavam muito baixo grau de dependência do tabaco. Os profissionais iniciaram suas atividades laborais com menos de 20 anos (83,5%), 87,3% possuem apenas um emprego e 87,8% não trabalham no turno noturno. Quanto ao tempo de trabalho na Atenção Primária à Saúde, 41% têm de 11 a 15 anos e 99,3% recebem adicional de insalubridade. Conclusão: com a inserção desta nova categoria profissional na Atenção Primária à Saúde (APS) no Brasil, esses trabalhadores merecem atenção cada vez maior pelo trabalho que vem desempenhando nas comunidades, revelando um impacto positivo nos resultados obtidos.
