Analogs of puromycin in which the a-amino group is replaced by a hydroxyl group were synthesized by condensation of puromycin aminonucleoside with l-(-)-3phenyllactic acid and by nitrous acid deamination of puromycin. E. coli ribosomal peptidyl transferase is able to transfer V-formylmethionine from fMet-tRNA or the terminal hexa-
On the Ring Eolargement ria Dibromocnrbew AdductsTwofold molar excess of terr-butyl lithium replaces vinylic and arylic bromine by lithium. The rerr-butyl bromide formed is dehydrohalogenated rapidly to isobutene by rerr-butyl lithium even at very low temperatures. Transformation of I-bromo-l-cyclooctene and -cyclononene via the lithium derivatives to vinyl thioethers Id, e, and i in high yields opens up a simple alternative route from olefin dibromocarbene adducts to ring enlarged ketones. The bromobenzenes 2a and 3a reveal that the Br/Liexchange described here is not accompanied by arine formation; it is feasible even in the presence of sensitive benzylic CHz-groups as present in 3.Der Halogen-Lithium-Austausch an Vinylhalogeniden IaRt sich einmal mit metallischem Lithium durchfuhrenl).
Br/Li-Exchange in Vinyl Bromides with 2 Molequivalents of tert-Butyllithium. Reactions of Vinyllithium Compounds with Hetero and Carbon Electrophiles'.2)Haloalkane-free solutions of vinyllithium compounds 2 -terminal ones at temperatures below -110°C -in T H F or ether are generated from vinyl bromides 1 with two motequivalents of tert-butyllithium [eq. (l)]. The scope and limitations of the method are discussed. Iodinations, silylations, sulfenylations, and oxygenations leading to 4, 5, 6, and 8, respectively, are described (table 1). The usefulness of these reactions in the synthesis of carbonyl compounds is compared with that of alternative recent methods. Examples of the stereoselective preparation of allylic alcohols 10, a,P-unsaturated carbonyl compounds 11 and olefins 12 by addition of 2 to aldehydes and ketones and acylation (table 2) or alkylation are given. In the alkylations ofcyclic representatives 2j-n with iodomethane, it was noticed that it is important to work in T H F solvent and to avoid excess halide. Otherwise (table 3 and 4) vinyl iodides 4 can be the main products instead of the desired methylated compounds 13.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
