Es wird eine Methode beschrieben, mit der Stoffübergangszahlen an von Luft zwangsumströmten Körpern gemessen werden können. Dem Luftstrom in einem geschlossenen Windkanal wird mit Schwefel‐35 markiertes Schwefeldioxid zugefügt. Der als Probekörper dienende querangeströmte Kreiszylinder wird mit Papier belegt, das mit eiher Reaktionslösung getränkt ist. An der Papieroberfläche wird das Schwefeldioxid in der Reaktionslösung absorbiert und gebunden. Die Radioaktivitätsverteilung auf dem Papier wird photometrisch aus Autoradiographien bestimmt. Die Konzentration des markierten Schwefeldioxids im Windkanal wird mit einer Flüssig‐Szintillations‐Methode gemessen. Der Fehler für diese Bestimmung örtlicher Stoffübergangszahlen beträgt etwa ± 4,5%.
