Throughout the past two decades Iterative Learning Control (ILC) has been analyzed from many different points of view and numerous algorithms for specific classes of systems and applications have been developed. Also, different frameworks have been proposed none of which became dominant for industrial control applications. In the linear case a parametric description has been well established. It forms the basis for the general framework presented here that completely embeds ILC into discrete linear systems theory. In addition to the intuitivity of the approach it is quite general. Parallel and serial combinations of the learning law with conventional feedback control can be considered as well as higher order learning laws. It is valid for arbitrary parametrizations, which allows the development of ILC strategies not only in the time and frequency domain but also in terms of other systems of basis functions.
In the first part of this article a parametric framework for Iterative Learning Control (ILC) was developed. Its validity for different classes of systems and for various parametrisations was shown. In the second part ILC in the frequency domain is discussed in more detail. An algorithm based on pole placement is introduced. It is easy to implement and shows good robustness against model uncertainties. Learning law and conventional control can be combined by two-stage pole placement. A suitable application for this cyclic control problem are test benches for materials and machine parts testing. The proposed algorithm is implemented on pneumatic and hydraulic test stands with good experimental results.Schlagwörter: Iterativ Lernende Regelungen, parametrische Regelungen, zyklische Prozesse, Schwingungsprüfung, Betriebsfestigkeit
For the control of cyclic processes Iterative Learning Control (ILC) has been proven to be an efficient concept. In this contribution a parametric framework is proposed that uses an analogy to a discrete time control loop and intentionally avoids highly theoretical concepts such as two dimensional systems theory. The generality with respect to the structure of the learning law, to different parametrisations and to different classes of systems is demonstrated. A brief analysis is followed by the detailed discussion of learning laws in the time and frequency domain. The latter is illustrated both in a simulation study and in an experiment on a hydraulic test bench for materials testing.
