Este trabalho caracterizou-se como qualitativo, de abordagem exploratória e teve como objetivo conhecer a percepção dos mestrandos de enfermagem sobre a religião como recurso terapêutico no processo de recuperação do ser humano doente e sua família. A população foi composta por 14 mestrandos. Para a coleta de dados foi utilizado questionário. Das informações emergiram as categorias: religião como apoio pessoal, religião e o cuidado de enfermagem, religião como recurso terapêutico e utilizando a religião na prática do cuidado de enfermagem. Os resultados mostraram que a religião é vista pelos mestrandos de enfermagem como um recurso importante e necessário no processo de recuperação do ser humano doente; que este tema deve fazer parte do processo de cuidado de enfermagem e a necessidade de inclusão deste tema como disciplina na academia, ou seja, o cuidado religioso.
RESUMOO Brasil tem tido uma das maiores taxas de cesáreas quando comparado a outros países, realidade não diferente em uma cidade do Norte do Paraná, Maringá. A institucionalização do parto trouxe consigo a medicalização do corpo da mulher e o aumento da freqüência de parto cesárea. Este estudo caracterizou-se como quantitativo e exploratório. O objetivo do estudo foi analisar o índice de cesáreas ocorridas em um Hospital Escola. Método: os dados foram levantados no prontuário médico das gestantes que se submeteram a cesárea nos anos de 2001-2003. Foi possível levantar que nos últimos três anos houve uma taxa de 45,3% de partos cesáreas. Apesar deste serviço atender gestantes de alto risco, houve uma taxa de cesárea acima do justificável, mostrando ser necessário repensar esta prática.Palavras chave: Cesárea; Saúde da mulher; Enfermagem obstétrica.
