Description of Type Strain S-182 of Pediococcus parvulus Gitnther and White 1961Morphology and Staining Reaction Spherical organisms, occasionally ovoid, ranging in diame t e r f r o m 0 . 7 1 IJ. to 1 . 4 3 p, a r r a n g e d i n clusters, tetrads, p a i r s o r singly, nonmotile, nonspore-forming and not encapsulated. Strongly Gram-positive.Cultural C h a r a c t e r s Surface colonies on tomato juice (TJ) a g a r (Oxoid, adjusted to pH 6 . 6 ) a r e greyish-white, smooth, circular, low convex with entire margins, size varying between 0. 3 and 0 . 4 m m i n diameter. Growth in T J a g a r stab culture i s beaded throughout the entire length of the stab, with a s m a l l amount of surface growth. Mucoid colonies a r e not formed on TJ a g a r medium containing a final concentration of 5% -
