The aim of this study is to examine the teachers' attitudes toward the inclusion of students with special educational needs, in public schools and how these attitudes are influenced by their self-efficacy perceptions. The sample is comprised of 416 preschool, primary and secondary education teachers. The results show that, in general, teachers develop positive attitude toward the inclusive education. Higher self-efficacy was associated rather with their capacity to come up against negative experiences at school, than with their attitude toward disabled learners in the classroom and their ability to meet successfully the special educational needs students. The results are consistent with similar studies and reveal the need of establishing collaborative support networks in school districts and the development of teacher education programs, in order to achieve the enrichment of their knowledge and skills to address diverse needs appropriately.

PurposeGreek pedagogical students’ attitudes towards environmental education in Greece are very important as these students represent future teachers who will affect the success of environmental education in schools. Therefore, the identification of their views will give us the potentiality to modify the curricula of pedagogical departments accordingly.Design/methodology/approachThe use of a questionnaire was chosen as the most suitable method to review and record pedagogical students’ attitudes towards environmental education.FindingsThe results of this study show that pedagogical students have not only realized the importance of environmental education in primary education but have also been sensitized to the environment and the issues involved in this. Attending practical courses on the environment seems to help towards this sensitivity.Originality/valueResults of this research show that an attempt should be made to develop education for sustainability in universities through an interdisciplinary approach, as universities bear a great responsibility in developing people's interest in the environment by training them to assess the impact of, and find solutions to, environmental problems and by producing well‐trained professionals who will promote and support sustainable development.

In recent years, many countries have tried to incorporate the probability concepts into the curriculum of primary school. The researchers disagree as to what the age of children dealing with probability contents should be. The aim of this study was to investigate the grade of understanding of the probability concepts in primary school students depending on their age and their gender. 404 pupils of the second to the sixth grade of elementary school participated in the study. It has been concluded that the majority of students was able to recognize different events and categorize them depending on their likelihood. The major difference in their abilities was noticed between the children of the second grade and those of the third grade whereas it has been experienced that girls performed better in all the tasks and in all the grades except for the fourth grade in which boys present a slightly better score.

Certification, designation of origin (PDO), and traceability of food products can be viewed as quality cues, possessing certain socioeconomic and demographic characteristics that are highly valued by today's consumers. Thus, assessing how consumers evaluate such quality cues and to what extent they are willing to pay a premium for food with one or more of the above-mentioned labels helps producers and processors to adjust according to market demand. The present study aims to identify consumers' awareness, attitudes, and buying intention toward food quality cues such as certification, food safety, origin, and traceability in fresh produce (fruits and vegetables). A logit model was applied to data collected by interviewing 400 consumers in Thessaloniki, Northern Greece, to identify the factors that affect consumers' intention to pay a premium price for these specific quality cues for fresh produce. Results indicate that the most important factors affecting willingness to pay a premium are mainly related to positive attitudes toward healthy food, level of awareness, and, to a lesser extent, several socioeconomic characteristics. The recorded consumer interest for safety and quality in fresh produce reveals that a promising market for such products can be developed by an adequate response in the relative labelling.
