Eine Pflegeoase (PO) kann als Variante segregativer Versorgung verstanden werden. Konkret geht es um einen dauerhaften Lebensort für Menschen mit schwerer Demenz und sehr hohem Pflegebedarf in einer stationären Einrichtung (Mehrpersonenraum). Pflegende sind während der Tagschichten kontinuierlich präsent. Es stellt sich die Frage, welche Merkmale der Lebensqualität (LQ) in POs erwähnt werden und wie Pflegende und Angehörige dieses Konzept einschätzen. Berichtet werden qualitative Befunde einer zweijährigen Evaluationsstudie von 15 PO-Bewohnerinnen. Die Datenerhebung erfolgte im Rahmen von vier (fünf) Gruppendiskussionen mit acht Pflegenden (15 Angehörigen). Zusätzlich wurden problemzentrierte Interviews durchgeführt. Die Datenauswertung orientierte sich an der Grounded Theory. Im Ergebnis wurde festgestellt, dass LQ in POs vorwiegend am psychophysischen Wohlbefinden festgemacht wurde. Die Einschätzungen von Pflegenden und Angehörigen waren überwiegend positiv und wurden im Rahmen von Festingers sozialpsychologischer 'Theorie der kognitiven Dissonanz' eingeordnet. Dabei wurde erkennbar, dass Vergleichsprozesse im Hinblick auf die Situation vor und nach Einführung einer PO für die Gesamteinschätzung bedeutsam waren. Insgesamt haben wir es mit einer Konstruktion von «Pflegewelten» in Institutionen der Langzeitpflege zu tun.
