Abstract. Na4[Mn(NCS)6]" 13H20 was prepared and characterized by chemical analysis, magnetic susceptibility, thermal dehydration reactions, and single crystal X-ray structure analysis. The crystals are triclinic with a=9.310(1)/~, b=9.367(1)~, c=9.730(2)A, c~= 89.89(1) ~ fi = 75.33(1) ~ 7 = 70.72(1) ~ space group P1.Z = 1. The structure is built up from Na(H20)5 S, Na(HzO)6, and Mn(NCS)6, octahedra. All water molecules are coordinated to Na+-ions in terminal as well as bridging fashion. They form O-H...O as well as O-H.--S hydrogen bonds.
Alkali Thiocyanatomanganate(II) Hydrates, Crystal Structure, Coordination Ambidence Alkali metal trithiocyanatomanganate(II) hydrates have been prepared and characterized by several analytical methods. The structures of NH4[Mn(NCS)3(H20 )] (la), K [M n(NCS)3(H20 )] (lb ) and Na[M n(NCS)3] • 3 H20 (2) could be elucidated by X-ray analysis, la and lb are isotypic and form a polymeric layer structure which is characterized by the ambident nature of the thiocyanate ligand and binding of the water molecule to the octahedrally coordinated Mn atom. In 2 the complex manganate(II) anions form a layer structure with trigonal symmetry in which each Mn atom is connected with three Mn neighbours by thiocyanate double bridges. The cation partial lattice consists of infinite chains of face-sharing [Na(H20 ) 6]+ octahedra running perpendicular to the anion layers. 0 9 3 9 -5 0 7 5 /9 8 /0 4 0 0 -0 4 1 6 $ 06.00
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
