Es werden 2 neue Synthesen des Adamantan‐Ringsystems beschrieben. Die erste Synthese geht aus von dem aus Bicyclo[1.3.3]nonandion‐(2.6) mit Pyrrolidin erhaltenen Bis‐enamin, das bei der Kondensation mit Dibromessigsäure‐methylester unter Ringschluß Adamantandion‐(4.8)‐carbonsäure‐(2)‐methylester ergibt. Durch WOLFF‐KISHNER‐Reduktion dieses Esters wurde Adamantancarbonsäure‐(2) erhalten, aus der 2‐Amino‐adamantan und Adamantanon‐(2) zugänglich sind. Die zweite Synthese beruht auf der cyclisierenden Aldolkondensation des 9‐Methyl‐9‐dichlormethyl‐bicyclo[1.3.3]nonandions‐(3.7) mit Nitromethan zu 2‐Nitro‐1.3‐dihydroxy‐6‐methyl‐6‐dichlormethyl‐adamantan.
Von einer Reihe von Versuchen zur Synthese des 2‐ Thia‐adamantans erwies sich ein Syntheseweg, ausgehend von Bicyclo[1.3.3]nonandion‐(2.6) das mit Pyrrolidin in das Bis‐Enamin übergeführt wurde, als erfolgreich. Die anschließende Kondensation mit Schwefeldichlorid ergab 2‐Thia‐adamantandion‐(4.8), aus dem durch Wolff‐Kishner‐Reduktion 2‐ Thia‐adamantan selbst zugänglich ist.
