In the high temperature heat exchanger as well as the steam reformer, several technical problems should be solved before realizing a nuclear plant complex for iron and steel making. The loO I) to be tested is planned ky the Iron and Steel Institu te of J apan for basic studies on the said IJroblems and turned over to Ishikawajima-Harima H eavy Industries Co., L td. for its actual constmction on behalf of l S I). With the loop, research has been carried ou t on heat exchanger between helium and steam, h)ldrogen IJermeation through super alloys, hydrogen removal using a titanium sl)onge, and creel) and carburization performance of super alloys. The primary coolant used is helium having a pressure of approximately J 2 kg/cm'C and a temperatu re of approximately J J OO°C measured at the inlet of the high temperature heat exchanger, i.e., the test section. Steam, hydrogen and carbon monoxide are Ilsed as secondary coolants.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
