Investors’ investment decision is much dependent on his/her risk-taking capability, which in turn depends on a variety of factors. Majority of the studies carried out on this topic associate the financial risk tolerance (FRT) with demographics (gender, marital status, age, education income, etc.) of the investor. A handful of the studies on this topic establish a link between FRT and personality type. FRT refers to the investors’ ability to allow the uncertainty of returns while taking their investment decision. Most of the past studies on the related topics have taken Myers-Briggs Type Indicators (MBTI) or big five personality types, whereas the present study has taken Personality type A and B for finding its association with risk tolerance level. Identifying Personality type A and B is much easier and less time-consuming as compared to other models. Hence, in real life, financial planners also can use the outcome of this study in preparing the investment strategy for their clients. Past studies have focused either on demographics or on personality type, while the current study combines the effect of both the variables and adds to the existing literature. The present study adopts a single cross-sectional descriptive research design. To satisfy the objective, required data were gathered through a structured questionnaire with a “Financial Risk Tolerance Scale,” “Personality Scale,” and basic demographic questions using a convenience sampling methodology. An analysis of data indicates that personality type and demographic variables such as gender, marital status, occupation, and income are found significant in determining FRT of investor, while age and education are found insignificant.
SRI, or socially responsible investment, is a relatively new concept used to describe an investment that considers social, ethical, and environmental concerns. The purpose of this study is to investigate if collectivism, concern for the environment, financial performance, and awareness of SRI influence an individual’s propensity to invest in socially responsible investments (SRI). Secondly, the study evaluates the influence of the TPB (Theory of Planned Behavior) model constructs, attitude, subjective norms, and perceived behavioral control on the SRI investment intention of individual investors. A structured questionnaire was used to collect data on 449 individual investors for this cross-sectional investigation. The data were then analyzed further with a two-step structural equation modeling technique performed in Smart PLS 3.2.9. The PLS-SEM analysis found that collectivism, environmental concerns, financial performance, and awareness of SRI all had significant positive effects on attitudes toward SRI, which, in turn, resulted in SRI investment intention. Further, subjective norms and perceived behavioral control had a significant impact on individuals’ intentions regarding SRI.
PurposeThe purpose of the current research is to examine the impact of psychological contract fulfillment on work outcomes i.e. organizational commitment and job satisfaction during the COVID-19 pandemic. It also aims to check the mediating role of co-worker support and work engagement on organizational outcomes.Design/methodology/approachThe current study has adopted a quantitative approach and a cross-sectional research design has been used with a snowball sampling technique. Data were collected via a structured questionnaire through Google Docs from 926 respondents working at different capacities in the service sector. The study includes those respondents who are working from home during the COVID-19 pandemic situation. The hypotheses were tested using structural equation modeling (SEM).FindingsResults indicated that psychological contract fulfillment was positively impacting work outcomes i.e. organizational commitment and job satisfaction. Co-worker support and work engagement positively mediated the relationship between psychological contract fulfillment and work outcomes during the COVID-19 pandemic situation. Multi-group analysis proved that there was a difference in opinion regarding the impact of psychological contract fulfillment on organizational commitment and job satisfaction amongst males and females.Originality/valueThe novel contribution of the study is integrating social exchange theory, organization support theory and social information processing theory during the pandemic situation. The results highlighted meticulous empirical evidence, which answers the question as to how the met expectations cause an advantageous effect on the employees as well as the organizations in this COVID-19 pandemic situation.
One of the many ways through which the universities can communicate with students is through their website, which is considered as the face of the organization. It also represents the organization as a whole, its culture, value and vision. The current study aimed to check the usability of Gujarat Technological University’s website from students’ perspective and to find its association with satisfaction. The current study tried to address the gap in the literature, wherein in the Indian context, the majority studies were conducted in the context of library website only. The current study has adopted a quantitative approach, where a single cross-sectional research design has been used with convenience sampling. The present study had adapted the Website Usability Evaluation (WEBUSE) scale. A total of 577 students from the fields of management, computer science, and engineering have responded to the structured questionnaire. The structural equation model of the study revealed that all the four dimensions of website usability were positively associated with satisfaction, whereas content, organization and readability criterion had the most influence on satisfaction followed by user interface design, performance and effectiveness and navigation and links. The study strongly recommends the university to maintain up-to-date content, organize it well and it should be readable for the students in order to maximize the satisfaction with the website. Global consumption trends point to rising demand for organic food as people become more health-conscious. The factors that people consider while making initial organic purchases have been discussed at length. However, the published research is scant about the factors that affect consumers’ propensity to repurchase organic goods. The present research fills this gap by focusing on what influences consumers’ decisions to repurchase organic grain. The Stimulus-Organism-Response (S-O-R) theory and the Theory of Planned Behaviour are the theoretical foundations of the present investigation. The consumer’s attitude toward organic grains and their desire to repurchase organic grains are influenced by health consciousness and previous experience. The repurchase intent was determined to be controlled by the buyer’s willingness to pay and their level of trust in the organic grain. This cross-sectional study collected the necessary data from five chosen urban centres in India. Smart PLS 3.2.9 was used to analyse the gathered data from 463 respondents. According to the findings, health consciousness and past experience favourably influence attitudes and repurchase intent. The trust that consumers have built up in organic grain as a result of past experiences is what drives their desire to make more purchases. Willingness to pay significantly controls and impacts the inclination to repurchase. The association between health consciousness and repurchase intention is partially mediated by attitude, as is the relationship between past experience and repurchase intention. The relationship between health consciousness and the desire to repurchase is partially mediated by the willingness to pay.
