Remaining useful life (RUL) prediction of lithium-ion batteries can reduce the risk of battery failure by predicting the end of life. In this paper, we propose novel RUL prediction techniques based on long short-term memory (LSTM). To estimate RUL even in the presence of capacity regeneration phenomenon, we consider multiple measurable data from battery management system such as voltage, current and temperature charging profiles whose patterns vary as aging. Unlike the traditional LSTM prediction that matches input layer with output layer as one-to-one structure, we leverage many-to-one structure to be flexible for various input types and to substantially reduce the number of parameters for better generalization. Using the NASA lithium-ion battery datasets, we verify the accuracy of the proposed LSTM-based RUL prediction. The experimental results show that the proposed single-channel LSTM model improves the mean absolute percentage error (MAPE) by 39.2% compared to the baseline LSTM model. Furthermore, the proposed multi-channel LSTM model significantly improves the MAPE, e.g., by 63.7% compared to the baseline; the proposed model achieves 0.47-1.88% of MAPE while the state-of-the-art baseline LSTM shows 0.6-6.45% of MAPE. Solubility characteristics of commercial soy protein products (flours, concentrates, and isolates) were determined under various conditions. From the solubility profiles at various pH values and NaCl concentrations, soy protein isolates can be divided into three groups. One group had high solubility near the pI. Another group had low solubility near the pI, but high solubility at pH 11. The third group had low solubility even at pH 11. Except for the hydrolyzed products, the protein solubilities of the soy protein products at various salt concentrations were very low. Temperature did not significantly affect the protein solubility, although a few products showed more than a 20% increase at temperatures >50°C. Soy protein concentrates and soy protein isolates showed similar solubility profiles. The proteins in all commercial products (except flours) tested were denatured, as evident from the solubility profiles in the presence of salt and the enthalpy values from DSC.Paper no. Glucocorticoid excess is a critical factor contributing to muscle atrophy. Both endogenous and exogenous glucocorticoids negatively affect the preservation of muscle mass and function. To date, the most effective intervention to prevent muscle atrophy is to apply a mechanical load in the form of resistance exercise. However, glucocorticoid-induced skeletal muscle atrophy easily causes fatigue in daily physical activities, such as climbing stairs and walking at a brisk pace, and reduces body movements to cause a decreased ability to perform physical activity. Therefore, providing adequate nutrients in these circumstances is a key factor in limiting muscle wasting and improving muscle mass recovery. The present review will provide an up-to-date review of the effects of various nutrients, including amino acids such as branched-chain amino acids (BCAAs) and β–hydroxy β–methylbutyrate (HMB), fatty acids such as omega-3, and vitamins and their derivates on the prevention and improvement of glucocorticoid-induced muscle atrophy.

Seaweeds are receiving much attention as a rich source of bioactive compounds with cosmeceutical potential. Recent studies have revealed that Sargassum spp., a genus of brown algae in the family Sargassaceae, has multiple functions in preventing and improving skin aging. Sargassum spp. contains many bioactive compounds, such as fucoidan, fucoxanthin, terpenoids, flavonoids, and meroterpenoids. These Sargassum spp. extracts and derivative compounds have excellent potential for skincare, as they exhibit skin health-promoting properties, including antioxidants, anti-inflammation, whitening, skin barrier repair, and moisturizing. Therefore, searching for bioactive compounds in marine resources such as Sargassum spp. could be an attractive approach to preventing and improving skin aging. The current review focused on the various biological abilities of Sargassum extracts or derived compounds for anti-skin aging.
