La preparación de profesionistas es una actividad muy importante si se quiere llegar a ser un país desarrollado, ya que el progreso se encuentra asociado a su producción tecnológica y científica. Aunque la licenciatura, la maestría y el doctorado son niveles educativos básicos para formar investigadores y tecnólogos, los estudiantes de bachillerato son un sector de la población con mucho potencial para el desarrollo de habilidades requeridas para la investigación y el desarrollo de la tecnología, pudiendo impulsar el interés científico de nuestra sociedad. Sin embargo, son pocos los jóvenes de este nivel los que deciden estudiar su carrera dentro del ámbito científico, ya sea por falta de motivación o de conocimiento. Por ello, se propuso diseñar un programa con los objetivos de impulsar las vocaciones científicas y tecnológicas a nivel bachillerato en el proyecto interdisciplinar y multidisciplinar titulado “Fortalecimiento de la aeronáutica en el noreste de México” apoyado por el Conacyt. En este artículo, se presentan tanto los objetivos alcanzados como los resultados obtenidos, resaltando el diseño instruccional y los elementos que deben de integrar un programa educativo extracurricular sobre ciencias e ingenierías para estudiantes de bachillerato y que impacte en su percepción estudiantil sobre sus clases de ciencias.
El crecimiento económico y la competitividad internacional de un país están íntimamente relacionados con su capacidad de desarrollo cientí-fico y tecnológico (Méndez, 2000). México es un país en donde la poca inversión en ciencia y un bajo índice en el nivel académico de la pobla-ción, provocan falta de motivación entre los jóvenes para decidirse por carreras científicas e ingenierías y para dedicarse al desarrollo científico y tecnológico del país (Hernández, 2018). Pese a los esfuerzos mostrados por el Conacyt e instituciones privadas por realizar actividades enfocadas a la motivación científica de los jóvenes de bachillerato, son pocos los programas que se enfocan en la formación de jóvenes investigadores. En este trabajo se presenta el desarrollo de un programa de modalidad extracurricular a nivel de bachillerato cuyo objetivo es fomentar en es-tudiantes del Nivel Medio Superior el interés por la investigación y el desarrollo de proyectos científicos, bajo el títuño: Programa de Jóvenes Investigadores (PJI). Para evaluar su efecto en términos de desarrollo de proyectos de investigación y participación científica en estudiantes del Nivel Medio Superior (NMS), se aplicó dicho programa a un grupo de 10 estudiantes de bachillerato de la Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León. Los proyectos desarrollados por los estudiantes participantes durante la aplicación del programa se enfocaron en temas de biotecnología y biología molecular, generando proyectos de su propia autoría enfocados en resolver problemas sociales. Se pudo observar que se cumplieron los objetivos del programa propuesto y que los estudiantes se motivaron a decidirse por carreras de contenido científica e involucrarse en la comu-nicación a través de actividades de divulgación científica.
