Considering the different ethnopharmacological uses submitted by the plant Luehea divaricata, this study took place in order to evaluate the antinociceptive and anti-inflammatory activities of the ethanol extract of the leaves in an animal model, the dosages of 20, 40, 80 and 160 mg/kg by oral intake. The following tests were performed: writhing induced by acetic acid, hot plate, formalin, and paw edema induced by carrageenan. Swiss mice (20-25 g) were used for the first three tests and Wistar rats (180-250 g) for the last, divided into six groups, each of eight animals, totaling 48 animals for each assessment parameter. The results were statistically analyzed by analysis of variance at 5% probability to verify which treatments differ, and these were tested by Kruskal-Wallis and Student-Newman-Keuls. The ethanol extract of L. divaricataleaves (EEtOH-Ld) at the different studied doses showed significant antinociceptive activity on chemically induced pain by intraperitoneal injections of acetic acid and intraplantar formalin. At a dosage of 160 mg/kg, this extract showed a central analgesic action after 120 minutes of observation in the hot plate test and reduced action in the paw edema induced by carrageenan one hour after the administration of the inflammatory agent, similar to the effect produced by the standard drug.
Além disso, a referida formulação induz menor exsudação, facilitando o processo cicatricial.
Palavras-chave: jucá, lesão, cicatrização ABSTRACT: The Caesalpinia ferrea, popularly known as jucá, has many proven pharmacological activities. In northeastern Brazil this plant is often used to treat skin wounds, with good results, which arouses great interest in the biotech and pharmacological studies of this kind. The aim of this study was to evaluate the healing activity of jucá pod (C. ferrea) alone or in combination with sugar, healing of skin wounds in rabbits. 40 rabbits were used (Oryctalagus cunicullus) adults, divided into five groups: control, the pods powder fresh, pod powder in natura added sugar (1: 1), jucá ointment with glycerin vehicle, and jucá plus sugar glycerin ointment vehicle, administered three times a day. After anesthesia was dissociative manufacture of surgical wounds standardized in size 2,5 cm 2 . Daily clinical, macroscopic and histological analyzes of lesions in three ten days after the surgical preparation of the wounds were made. The results showed no significant difference between the groups regarding the healing time, but topical treatment with ointment formulated with the powder coming from jucá pod caused a significant increase in the lesion area of the contraction in the third and tenth day.

ResumoThe aim of this study was to evaluate the analgesic effect of propolis, comparing solutions prepared from propolis obtained from the apiary of the Centre for Agricultural Sciences (CCA) of the Federal University of Piauí, with the extract from the Apis Flora Laboratory. Forty eight mice were divided into six groups treated with hydroethanol solution (vehicle, 20mL/Kg, p.o.), dipyrone (positive control, 50mL/Kg, p.o.), propolis solution 10% (obtained from CCA and Apis Flora, 20mL/Kg, p.o.) and propolis 20% solution (obtained from CCA and Apis Flora, 20mL/Kg, p.o.). The nociceptive stimulus was induced by intraperitoneal (i.p.) administration of 0.6% acetic acid 20 minutes after administration of each treatment. The number of writhing was performed, for a period of 20 minutes, and the inhibition percentage of the painful sensation provided by each treatment were calculated. The results showed that the control group, treated with hydroethanol solution, was significantly different from all others, and those treated with propolis solution at 10% and 20% from, both sources do not differ significantly from each other and not the positive control, showing similar analgesic effect.Palavras-chave: Dor.
